Phallus ravenelii – Revenel’s Stinkhorn

leave a comment »

Found this cool looking thing this morning. It’s the egg of Phallus ravenelii, or Revenel’s stinkhorn. This is that nasty, stinky, phallic shaped mushroom that you generally see (or smell), in the late summer and fall months. Apparently you can still find it in December in Virginia.

Super fungi coolness.
